Parents’ Wedding Anniversary

My parents are celebrating their wedding anniversary this week so I took the liberty of fixing one of their printed photos. This is their honeymoon picture which I removed some noise from. I also desaturated the photo which developed into a much cleaner picture!

Happy anniversary, Mom and Dad! I love you.

Photographic Colour Study

Photography fascinates me. Above is the same photo conveying different moods. Here, colour denotes warmth and vibrance; Grayscale allows for intensity and focus. My eyes perceive that colour gives more depth whereas grayscale is flatter.

One of my favourite effects is to add a sepia filter to a photo. Sepia is a reddish-brown hue that adds an antique effect which means you can take a new photo and make it look as if it was taken yesteryear! In essence, you are able to convey a nostalgic mood that evokes a sense of romantic play.

What do you think? I’d love to know: As a photographer, do you have a favourite filter? As a viewer, do you prefer one of the colour schemes above or do you prefer coloured filters pink, purple or red? Are you into cooling filters (blue) or warming filters (yellow) and WHY?

3 Questions with Cristina (for my Instagram & FB followers)

Q: Who did your hair?

A: I did. This is the one time this year I used my curling iron, LOL!

Q: How much makeup are you wearing?

A: Actually, not much! I’m proud of my skin so I only wear eye makeup which means eyeliner, eyeshadow and a wee bit of colour to fill-in my brows on special occasions like the party I’m attending later.

Q: Um, is this how you look when you go to the gym?

A: No, I usually put my hair up in a ponytail.

Film Photography Then and Now

Years ago, before the move to digital, photographers had to work in a darkroom to manipulate images manually. Tools like dodging and burning had to be done by hand! Nowadays, Adobe Photoshop lets you quickly and cleanly do many effects in the comfort of your living room or office! Happy 26th anniversary, Photoshop! Thank you for making our design lives so quick and easy 🙂
